From the Pastor's Desk - October 26, 2014

Dear Parishioners,
This coming weekend we celebrate on Saturday, November 1, the Solemnity of All Saints. There will be Mass at 9:00 AM. The First Saturday devotions will follow the Mass. Since All Saints falls on a Saturday this year, Mass attendance is not obligatory. Hence there will be no eve Mass on Friday. On Saturday evening for the 5:00 PM Mass and on Sunday for the 9:00 AM Mass, the Mass for All Souls Day will be celebrated. The homily at these Masses will be the second one in the series that Archbishop Lucas has asked to be preached on the renewal of the Funeral Rites. At the 9:00 AM Mass on Sunday, November 2, all of the deceased parishioners will be remembered, especially by there being a votive candle lit in memory of each of them that will be placed in front of the altar. As we celebrate these feasts this coming weekend, let us remember that we are all called to be saints and are called by Our Lord to pray for the souls of the faithful departed. It is a time to remember that this life is passing and that what ultimately matters in the end is that we repent of our sins in this life, seek to grow in holiness each day, and place our hope in the joys of eternal life that Our Lord promises to those who follow him faithfully in His Holy Catholic Church.
In regards to our Blessed and Thankful Capital Campaign that is currently taking place, I thank all who have made pledges to the campaign thus far. If you still have not been contacted for a visit from me or one of the team members, you soon will be. Our team members have been working hard to make contact but, obviously, it takes time to contact all of the registered parishioners. If you have moved or changed your phone number (such as dropping a land line and going to a cell line only) please let Sharon in the parish office know or fill in the form that is inserted in this week’s bulletin.  I thank all of our volunteer team members who are working hard on setting up the visits. I ask for everyone to continue to pray to know how Our Lord calls you to participate in the campaign in terms of the amount of a pledge as well as to pray for the overall success of the campaign.
Have a blessed and grace-filled week.
God bless you, Fr. Gutowski
