From the Pastor's Desk - October 19, 2014

Dear Parishioners,
Next Sunday, after the 9:00 AM Mass, I will lead a time of prayer for respect for life. This will consist of Exposition of the Holy Eucharist and the praying of the Rosary. Since this is the last Sunday of October, which our Bishops each year designate as Respect Life Month, I wanted to provide you anther opportunity besides the Life Chain that took place on the first Sunday of the month to participate in an activity that sows your care for the most vulnerable among us, especially the unborn and the dying.
On another note, Archbishop Lucas has directed that the homilies for the next two Sundays focus on a renewed appreciation for and understanding of the Church's Rite of Funerals. With the celebrations of All Saints Day and All Souls Day coming up, he decided that this would be a good time to do such.
Speaking of All Souls Day, on November 2, at the 9:00 AM Mass, a votive candle will be lit for every deceased parishioner is St. Joseph. We will especially remember our parishioners who have passed away since last All Souls Day. After Mass, family members of our deceased will be able to take home the respective candle that will have the name of their loved ones on it as has been done in the past.
Have a blessed and grace-filled week.

God bless you,
Fr. Gutowski
