From the Pastor's Desk - September 21, 2014

Dear Parishioners, This Sunday is designated by our bishops as Catechetical Sunday. Thus on this weekend at the Masses we recognize those who are involved in our Religious Education Program here at St. Joseph. We thank and bless the teachers, aides, and office staff who volunteer for our Program. Of course, too, we ask God’s blessing upon and appreciate Sherry Huntwork, our Director of Religious Education. All of them do a wonderful job of teaching and forming our children in our Catholic Faith. With the blessing of having now the new building in which to conduct our Religious Education Program, they are all the more energized and our able to use pedagogical methods (such as singing, lively discussions, etc.) that they could not do so before. Also, I thank Theresa Starks and Kathy Long who assist me with our Youth Group Program and Deacons Christensen and Ficenec who assist in various ways with our Religious Ed Program, Youth Group, and adult catechesis here in our parish.
Please note in this weekend’s bulletin that there is an insert providing information on the upcoming archdiocesan/parish capital campaign. In it I explain what will be happening soon in this regard. I thank all of those who have volunteered to be members of our capital campaign team. Please pray for them for the success of the campaign and I ask that you pray for at least nine days the special prayer for the campaign that is on the insert.
This coming week from Tuesday to Sunday,  due to my being the national chaplain and the local Omaha Guild chaplain of the Catholic Medical Association, I will be at their annual national conference in Orlando. Please pray for me and all the Catholic physicians and medical professionals who will be attending the conference that the Holy Spirit be powerfully present to make it a time of being powerfully formed in our Catholic Faith in regards to the vocation of medicine.
Have a grace-filled and blessed week.
God bless you, Fr. Gutowski
