From the Pastor's Desk - August 29, 2014

Dear Parishioners, It is with joy that we welcome Archbishop Lucas this Sunday as celebrant for our 9:00 A.M. Mass and as he blesses our new Religious Education Center Building after this Mass. This is a wonderful milestone in the history of our parish for which we are thankful to our Lord. This past Wednesday we had the opening Mass for the new Religious Education year and our parents and children were able to visit the classrooms in the building. Everyone was excited about this new facility and how wonderful it will be for our children to learn in an environment that will no longer have the distraction of the background noise that was present when we held classes in the social hall. Thanks goes out to all of you for your support of this beautiful new building that is such magnificent asset to the life of our parish. It will not only benefit our children but our youth who will meet in their new youth group room and the adults of our parish for adult formation and for parish meetings.
I will once again be offering Bible Study on Monday nights at 6:30 P.M. This year, in the fall, the Book of Exodus will be studied and, then, in the new year, St. Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthians. The dates for Exodus are the following: September 15, 22, 29; October 13, 20, 27; November 17, 24; and December 1, 8. The dates for I Corinthians are the following: February 16, 23; March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30; April 6, 13; and May 4. Please mark your calendars now. I have put sign-up sheets out on the credenza in the entry area so that I know the number of study binders to order for it. There is no charge but free-will offerings are accepted. This will meet in the St. Therese, the Little Flower, Media Room (Room #110) in the Religious Education Building.
Also, in regards to adult education opportunities, I am asking all parents who have children in our religious education program to attend six faith enrichment sessions this coming RE year. The dates for these will be September 3, October 1 and 29, January 14, February 25, and March 25. These will take place on Wednesday evenings during RE in the Social Hall from 6:15 to 7:30 P.M. I will be presenting the first six sessions of a new DVD series called Symbolon: The Catholic Faith Explained. It is important that parents as the primary teachers of their children keep themselves refreshed in the knowledge of their Catholic Faith. There will be no need to sign up as I expect that all parents will want to take this time to enrich themselves so as to be the best of teachers for their children in the ways of faith. So, please mark your calendars for these six sessions. Any other parishioners who wish to attend these are welcome to do so too.
Have a blessed and grace-filled week.
God bless you,
Fr. Gutowski
