From the Pastor's Desk - May 11, 2014

Dear Parishioners,
As we celebrate Mother's Day this weekend, I wish all mothers a Happy Mother's Day. Kevin Durant, while accepting the NBA MVP award this last week, in a moving testimony thanked his mother and declared her to be the real MVP. Yes, mothers are the real MVPs of the world because of the sacrifices that they make for their children! As we salute our mothers this weekend, I pray that Our Lord bless all the mothers of our parish. Also, I thank the Knights of Columbus for the brunch that they provide for our mothers this Sunday.

Next weekend, at the 9:00 AM Sunday Mass, we will recognize our high school graduates. If you are a graduate or a parent of a graduate, please fill out the information form that is on the credenza in the church entry area so that I know who all of our graduates are.

As the new Religious Education Center project nears completion, one of the final items to be put into place is a phone system that links the current church office area, the rectory, and the new RE building with one another. Most of this has been accomplished this week. Since the installer of the new phone system obviously needs to coordinate things with the phone company, some items have been clarified with the phone company, but there are still some issues to be resolved yet. We do know we are able to keep the parish office number (402-253-2949). When calling this number, you will get a menu, which does have a number (3) to choose for connecting to the rectory. Presently it appears, though, that the rectory number (402-253-2889) has been deactivated, but we are not sure yet whether this number will still be available for use. So, if you call the rectory number, the phone will not ring n the rectory. The best thing to do, then, is to call the office number and then press 3 when directed (it currently says, " To reach the Father, press 3," which was recorded by the installer.) Next week the installer will do training and we will tweak things after that. When, we get everything resolved (we hope soon!), an insert will be put in the bulletin to explain how you can reach the parish office, rectory, and RE office by phone with this new phone system. I thank you for your patience as we make this transition.

Have a wonderful and grace-filled week.

God bless you,   Fr. Gutowski
