From the Pastor's Desk - April 27, 2014

Dear Parishioners,
Please pray for our 15 second graders who are making their First Holy Communion this Sunday at a special 11:00 AM Mass. I congratulate them and their parents and families on this wonderful occasion of receiving Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament for the first time. Let us pray that our Lord will help them through the years to grow more and more to appreciate His Most Personal and Real Presence in the Holy Eucharist. It is also a moment for us to stop and remind ourselves of this most wondrous gift in which Jesus nourishes us with His Most Precious Body and Blood as our Bread of Life. Please also pray for one of our fifth graders, John Tagel, who made his First Holy Communion on Palm Sunday weekend and I congratulate his parents and family as well.
On another note, I am pleased to announce that Archbishop Lucas has assigned a second permanent deacon to our parish, Deacon Terry Ficenec. He and his wife Karen will be moving into St. Joseph Parish in June. We are blessed to have Deacon Dave Christensen and his wife Linda and, now, we will be blessed to have Terry and Karen. I told Terry to take the time they need to get settled with their move, so it will be sometime in June, most likely, that he will begin being present as a deacon at one of the Masses on weekends. I anticipate that he will be involved in other parish activities as is possible. So, please keep Terry and Karen in your prayers as well as continuing to do so for Dave and Linda.
The Youth Brunch will be next weekend on Sunday, May 4, after the 9:00 AM Mass. It slipped my mind to announce this earlier with all the Lent and Holy Week happenings. There is a sign-up sheet on the credenza in the entry area of church. Please put your family name and how many will be attending. Remember all family members of our high school youth and eighth graders are welcome to join our youth for this brunch. Also, you can email me this week at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with your name and number of who will be coming.
Finally, on the credenza are sheets for any of our graduating high school seniors or their parents to fill out with information that will be helpful for the Sunday that we will honor them, which will be at the 9:00 AM Mass on May  18. Please return this filled out sheet to the credenza by May 12. You can also email me the information at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , if that is easier to do.
Have a blessed and grace-filled week.
God bless you,  Fr. Gutowski
