From the Pastor's Desk - March 16, 2014

I once again invite you to attend the Thursday evening faith enrichment presentations on Thursday evenings of Lent. This coming week the topic will be The Shroud of Turin, which was the burial cloth that was around the body of Jesus when he was laid in the tomb. The experts who have studied it have learned that it reveals things about what our Lord suffered in the Crucifixion. If you can sign up on the sheets provided in the entry area that is great, but, if not, you are still welcome to come. The Thursday evening sessions begin at 7:15 PM.
Also, remember that the Archdiocese is once again doing the Light Is On campaign during Lent. On the Thursdays of Lent every parish in the Archdiocese has confessions scheduled from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. So, this is a great opportunity, whether you come here to St. Joseph or go to another parish to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, which we should receive regularly, but at the least once a year. Our Lord’s rich mercy is awaiting us there in this beautiful sacrament that brings us great peace because in it we hear that our sins our forgiven.
Remember that this week on March 19 it is the Solemnity of St. Joseph, the patron of our parish. If you are able, it would be great to come to Mass on Wednesday. There will be Mass at 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM. This year, because of the extra fish fry that the Knights of Columbus is doing and with the construction of the new Religious Education Center going on, we will not have the dinner celebrating the feast day that we have had the past couple of years. When things are settled next year, we can resume having it.
Have a blessed and grace-filled week.
God bless you,  Fr. Gutowski
