From the Pastor's Desk - November 17, 2013

Dear Parishioners,
It was wonderful to see the numbers that came to pray this last Sunday and Monday during the time that the National Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima was here at St. Joseph. If you were not able to come during this time, there are some prayer cards in the entry area with a picture of the statue. These cards contain prayers for offering up all our sacrifices and sufferings each day for the conversion of sinners, something that Our Lady asked for us to do when she came to Fatima in 1917. Also, if you would like to receive more information on Our Lady of Fatima, there are cards that can be sent to the World Apostolate of Fatima requesting such. Our Lady’s intercession is powerful and it is wonderful that Our Lord has blessed us with her various apparitions through which he desires to bring us closer to Him through His Blessed Mother’s prayers and care for us, such as is at the heart of Our Lady’s messages when she appeared at Fatima.
Please mark your calendars for the annual ecumenical Thanksgiving service here in Springfield on the Wednesday evening before Thanksgiving. The First United Methodist Church will be hosting this year’s prayer service. It will be at 7:00 PM on November 27 followed by refreshments in their social hall. As is encouraged each year of those attending, please bring non-perishable food items for the food pantry operated by First United Methodist.
Have a wonderful and grace-filled week.
God bless you,
Fr. Gutowski
