From the Pastor's Desk - August 11, 2013

Dear Parishioners,

This Sunday Archbishop Lucas will be here at St. Joseph to confer the sacrament of Confirmation upon 17 of our youth. We congratulate them as Our Lord seals them with the Gift of the Holy Spirit to give them the Grace that empowers them to live a mature faith. We also rejoice that the Holy Spirit will be their Guide and Consoler and therefore throughout their lives as their constant Companion. We pray that these youth will open their minds and hearts to the power of the Holy Spirit in their souls and know the love of the Holy Spirit who is the Love between the Father and the Son.

Please also pray for our religious education program as we make preparations for the start of a new year. We thank Sherry Huntwork, our Director of Religious Education, and those who volunteer as catechists and aids. Let us pray that they be covered by the love, wisdom, and protection of Jesus as they respond to the call of teaching our children and youth the riches of our Catholic Faith. Of course, we remember that the primary teachers of the Faith are parents and we pray for all parents in our parish that Our Lord will give them all the graces that they need to carry out this most serious responsibility. I will be providing again during the school months a once-a-month session (details next week) for parents to enrich them in living their Catholic Faith and encourage our parents to participate.

Finally, remember that this week we celebrate the Assumption of our Blessed Mother into Heaven and that all of us therefore have the obligation to come to Mass on this holy day.  Masses will be at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, August 14, and at 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM on August 15. We pray that Our Lady who was crowned Queen of Heaven and Earth when she was assumed into Heaven will reign over our parish and homes to protect and guide us with her motherly love.

Have a wonderful and grace-filled week.

God bless you, Fr. Gutowski.
