From the Pastor's Desk - July 28, 2013

Dear Parishioners,
I want to thank all who were involved with making the Totus Tuus week for our children and youth a success. Thank you to Carl and Ellen Weiss and Phil and Bridget White for providing room and board for the teachers/missionaries who presented the week. Our appreciation goes out to Mary and Iro Johnson, Lisa and Chris Dierking, and Chuck and Beth Chevalier for providing evening meals for them on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Thank you to Angie Krejci, Jane Ferrin, Lisa Dierking, Brenda Guenther, and Chris Hayes as well as Elizabeth Krejci and Isaiah Cacka for being present throughout the week during the day to help with various tasks. Of course, our gratitude goes to Sherry Huntwork, our Director of Religious Education, for coordinating the week and being present daily. Finally, a thank you goes out to the members of our Ladies Guild and Knights of Columbus who helped with the Wednesday evening potluck. As all who were present at the potluck on Wednesday evening witnessed, our 40+ children and youth have been blessed with having this week of instruction in the sacraments and the Glorious mysteries of the Rosary. As the number who participated this year doubled, I hope that it will grow next year likewise.
On another note, this coming week, from Monday to Friday, I will be up in Schuyler at the St. Benedict Center to carry out my duty of coordinating the second priest retreat of the summer for the Archdiocese. Further, I will be here next weekend for Masses, but then will have to travel to Chicago to receive some training that the Archdiocese wants me to receive that will take place at St. Mary of the Lake Seminary from August 4-9. I thank you for your patience as you have to share me with the Archdiocese in regards to these other responsibilities that I have. Please pray for more vocations to the priesthood as it gets difficult for the Archbishop to fulfill all the various needs of the Archdiocese without having to give to priests a number of hats to wear.
Finally, just a quick update on the progress of getting to the point of being able to start the construction of the religious education center building: the architect had hoped to have bids in by now, but contractors are saying they need more time. Therefore it looks like it will be the end of the first week of August before these will all be in. I have told the architect that we want accurate bids, so, if this extension is necessary to receive such, then it is obviously best for us to have to wait a little longer. Thanks for everyone’s patience as I know that the process seems to be a slow one, but in the end the not rushing of things will be to our advantage, I pray! Thanks for keeping this project in your prayers.
Have a blessed and grace-filled week.
God bless you all,  Fr. Gutowski
