From the Pastor's Desk - May 12, 2013

Dear Parishioners,
As most of you are probably now aware, Msgr. James Cain, pastor of St. Joseph from 1995-2002, passed away this last Monday. I have heard many of you reminisce about his time here and his many good qualities as pastor and priest, for which we give thanks to Almighty God for blessing our parish with during his service here. I trust that all of you will pray for the repose of his soul and have Masses offered for him, which, especially since he has little remaining living family, is so important to do. I was able to offer the Mass on this last Tuesday morning for him and on this coming Saturday, May 18, I will offer the 5:00 P.M. Mass for his soul and in his memory. I encourage you to pray the following, which is a prayer for a deceased priest:
God, Who did raise Your servant, Msgr. James Cain, to the sacred priesthood of Jesus Christ, according to the Order of Melchisedech, giving him the sublime power to offer the Eternal Sacrifice, to bring the Body and Blood of Your Son Jesus Christ down upon the altar, and to absolve the sins of men in Your own Holy Name. We beseech You to reward his faithfulness and to forget his faults, admitting him speedily into Your Holy Presence, there to enjoy forever the recompense of his labors. This we ask through Jesus Christ Your Son, our Lord. Amen.
As we celebrate Mother’s Day today, I wish all the mothers of our parish a wonderful day and ask our Lord’s blessing upon all of you. I also want to express a word of thanks to our Knights of Columbus Council for honoring our mothers this Sunday with the brunch that they have prepared and served.
Have a wonderful and grace-filled week.
God bless,  Fr. Gutowski
