From the Pastor's Desk - April 14, 2013

Dear Parishioners,
Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. This week in the Gospel we see that the Risen Lord after his resurrection is the same Jesus who served his disciples before his death. Before he performed the miraculous draught of fish and afterwards he does the same miracle, as we hear in today’s gospel. Before, at the Last Supper, he served his apostles by washing their feet and by giving them the gift of the Holy Eucharist. After, as we hear today, he serves and feeds his apostles by fixing them breakfast! While he now is changed in appearance somewhat in his glorified body that they do not immediately recognize him, they know that it is the same Lord by his actions. Whether it is that they were privileged to see Jesus as they did in his risen body or that we only know him by faith as we do, he is still active in our world and lives. This is especially experienced by his Real Presence in the Holy Eucharist. He is there to serve and feed us in the Holy Eucharist in the miracle that he does for each and every one of us wherein he changes bread and wine into his very Body and Blood. Next Sunday, our second graders will experience this for the first time when they make their First Holy Communion. So, let us pray for them, and ourselves, that they and we will always appreciate that Jesus is always with us in the Holy Eucharist, Jesus who is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Have a wonderful and grace-filled week.

God bless,  Fr. Gutowski
