From the Pastor's Desk - March 10, 2013

Dear Parishioners,
Starting on Monday, March 11, it will be time again for the praying of the annual novena to St. Joseph, the patron of our parish. This novena will be prayed after Mass each day until the feast day of St. Joseph on March 19.  If you are not able to participate in the novena at church, you can pray a novena at home using the following prayer:

O St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God, I place in thee all my interests and desires. O St. Joseph, assist me by thy powerful intercession and obtain for me all spiritual blessings through thy foster Son, Jesus Christ Our Lord, so that, having engaged here below thy heavenly power, I may offer thee my thanksgiving and homage. O St. Joseph, I never weary contemplating thee and Jesus asleep in thine arms. I dare not approach while He reposes near thy heart. Press Him in my name and kiss His fine head for me, and ask Him to return the kiss when I draw my dying breath.

This is an ancient and powerful prayer to St. Joseph that has been prayed by Catholics throughout the centuries. While this prayer is good to pray for our personal intentions, let us also pray this prayer for the Church and our new Pope, for whomever he will be, as St. Joseph is the patron of the universal Church. Further, I urge the praying of this novena prayer for our nation, especially for the protection of religious freedom and for the sanctity of marriage and family life.

Also, we will have the parish dinner celebrating St. Joseph as our parish patron on Saturday, April 6, after the 5:00 P.M. Mass. Due to some scheduling conflicts, it had to be scheduled a little more distant from the feast day than it has been in the past.  Sign-up sheets will be available starting next weekend for you to indicate whether you will be attending this dinner.
Have a blessed and grace-filled week.
God bless,
Fr. Gutowski
