From the Pastor's Desk - January 17, 2013

Dear Parishioners,
During the next couple of weeks my other various duties will involve my being away from the parish on the following dates:

--January 22-24, I will be in Schuyler, NE for a three-day Good Leaders, Good Shepherds workshop due to my being director of continuing formation for priests.
--January 25-29, I will be in Washington, DC for the National March for Life as spiritual director for the adults from the Archdiocese who are making the pilgrimage for this.
--February 1-3, I will be in Phoenix for a board meeting/retreat for the Catholic Medical Association for which I am the national chaplain.

Hence I will not be here the next two weekends. Priests from Mt. Michael Abbey and the Archdiocese will be offering Masses on the days I am gone, though on a couple of weekdays Deacon Dave will do a Communion Service.

On another note, Archbishop Lucas is encouraging all Catholics of the Archdiocese to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation during Lent. To facilitate this, every parish, besides regular weekend times, will be offering confessions from 5:30 to 7:00 PM on the six Thursdays of Lent beginning the week of Ash Wednesday (February 13). The Archbishop has directed all priests to give a series of weekend homilies on the Sacrament of Reconciliation and that the same pamphlets about going to Confession be distributed in every parish. So, I just wanted to alert you now that this Confession "campaign" is coming up.

Have a grace-filled week.

God bless,
Fr. Gutowski
