From the Pastor's Desk - November 22, 2012

Dear Parishioners,

I want to thank all who contributed to the Archbishop's Annual Appeal. In the latest figures from the chancery that I received this week, we exceeded the goal of $12,300 by about $2500. Thanks go out, also, to those who have returned their parish stewardship cards. Our parish is blessed with the generosity of so many individuals who not only sacrifice for the sake of the parish, but for the needs of the Archdiocese as well. May our Lord bless all of you who out of love for Him give abundantly back to Him for the good of His Church.

As a service to our parishioners, next weekend will be the start of the making some religious items and books available for purchase here at the parish. These are on display in the cabinets and bookcase next to the sacristy door as you enter the social hall. The majority of the items have been donated as well as the cabinets to get this "store" started. We are commencing this with some smaller-type items, but please let us know if there are other kinds of items that you would like us to make available. After each Mass on the weekends, someone will usually be available for the sale of the items. You can always ask me as well to help you purchase something any day of the week. If there are any others who would merely be willing to be available after a certain weekend Mass, like once a month, to help with the sale of items, your help would be appreciated. Please see me if you would like to help with this. I thank Eileen Stock, Sharon Carrasco, Doris Royal, and Cindy Vasta who are doing the various behind-the-scene tasks of operating this store.

Finally, as we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King this weekend, let us pray that Christ may reign in our hearts. Let us pray too for all who lead us in the Church and in society that the reign of Christ's truth and love may permeate all their decisions of governance. We need to especially pray for those who lead us in our nation that they will lead us according to God's commandments and will not take away our religious freedom to live and operate our religious institutions and personal businesses according to God's moral laws.

Have a blessed and grace-filled week.
God bless,  Fr. Gutowski
