From the Pastor's Desk - November 1, 2012

Dear Parishioners,
I want to express my gratitude to all of you who honored me last weekend on Priest Appreciation Sunday with your prayers, kind words, cards, and gifts. I greatly appreciate the heartfelt support that you showed me on this occasion as well that which you do all throughout the year.
Speaking of gratitude, I want to remind you now, that on the Wednesday evening before Thanksgiving we will be hosting the ecumenical Thanksgiving service here at St. Joseph. We will welcome Pastor Martin Neubauer and members of his congregation at First United Methodist Church as they join us in thanking our Lord for all of his gifts. The service will be at 7:00 P.M., so please mark your calendars now to attend.
During this month of November we observe the month of All Souls. While we should pray for our deceased loved ones and the souls in Purgatory throughout the year and have Masses offered for them, we especially are to remember them during November. Last year I celebrated a special Mass in remembrance of all of our deceased parishioners on the evening of All Souls Day. This year I did not schedule one on the evening of All Souls. With it being on Friday this year, I know that it might be a difficult evening for persons to attend a special Mass. Hence this special Mass will take place at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 15. As last year, a votive candle will be lit for every deceased parishioner who is recorded in our parish records. Also, during the month of November, the Book of the Deceased will be on display. The names that were received last year will again be contained in the book. If there are any new names that you would like included of deceased loved ones, please put their names on the sheets provided in the entry area and these will be included as well.
Have a grace-filled and wonderful week.
God bless, Fr. Gutowski
