From the Pastor's Desk - October 4, 2012

Dear Parishioners,
This week, on October 11, Pope Benedict XVI will inaugurate the Year of Faith on the 50th Anniversary of the opening of Vatican Council II. As I said several weeks ago, the Holy Father desires that we seek to be renewed in the knowledge and practice of our Catholic Faith during this Year of Faith that will last until November 24, 2013, the Solemnity of Christ the King. Please see the bulletin insert this week for some upcoming adult education opportunities during the Year of Faith. First off, I will be offering the opportunity for us to study our Catholic Faith through the lens of church history by utilizing a DVD series called "Epic." This will begin on November 8. Also, in terms of special times for prayer during the Year of Faith, Eucharistic Exposition and Adoration will be offered on the first Saturdays of the month beginning in November.

During October and into November, 40 Days for Life is taking place in our area. This involves the effort to get as many persons as possible to pray peacefully for respect for life outside the places where abortions are performed in our area. The closet location to our parish is in Bellevue. The goal is for parishes to find persons who would fill each hour for twenty-four hours for a certain date. If this is not possible, then the covering as many hours as is possible is requested. If anyone is interested in doing this, please see me.

Have a blessed and grace-filled week.

God bless,, Fr. Gutowski
