From the Pastor's Desk - January 19, 2012

Dear Parishioners,
After Mass on Sunday, I  will travel to Washington, D.C. I will be helping to lead an adult pilgrimage group from our area as we together participate in the National March for Life on Monday. I will return late on Tuesday evening. Please pray for us and the hundreds of thousands who will march in witness to the sanctity of the lives of our unborn sisters and brothers. Of course, we march in protest of the horrific January 22, 1973 Supreme Court rulings in the Roe vs. Wade and Doe vs. Bolton cases that legalized abortion during all stages of pregnancy. It is somber event in which we remember the 50-some million babies who have lost there lives through abortion since 1973 and the tragedy that so many women have been scarred emotionally and spiritually by such a choice. Our American bishops encourage us to offer special prayers and to do some type of sacrifice or penance each year on January 22nd for an end to abortion.  Since the anniversary of the Supreme Court decision is on Sunday this year, then this can be done on Monday the 23rd as Sunday traditionally is not a day of penance.
Because I will be in Washington, D.C. For the March,  on Monday and Tuesday, January 23 and 24, there will not be Masses scheduled. Deacon Dave will do a Communion service both of those days.
Have a blessed and grace-filled week.
God bless,  Fr. Matt
