From The Pastor's Desk - July 21, 2011

Jesus challenges us in this Sunday's Gospel to seek and to find the most valuable treasure and the pearl of great price. The greatest treasure that we have is our faith in Jesus as our God and Savior who guides us to eternal and everlasting life through His Catholic Church. Our Catholic faith is thus the pearl of great price, more valuable than anything else. Let our prayer be today and always that we have this understanding and wisdom of how blessed we are to be members of His Catholic Church where we receive his whole truth and the fullness of His spiritual gifts, especially in the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.

This past week our youth who are candidates for the Sacrament of Confirmation participated on an intensive study of this sacrament through which we receive a deeper reception of the Holy Spirit. Through Confirmation, if we are open to the graces of this sacrament, the Holy Spirit gives to us the understanding and wisdom that helps us to see the superior value of our following Jesus, which happens through the practice of our Catholic Faith.

Please keep our youth who are preparing for Confirmation in your prayers. They will be confirmed on December 11.

God bless and have a great week.
