From The Pastor's Desk - May 22, 2011

Dear Parishioners,
If anyone in the parish who has a business that is associated with the various building/construction trades and is interested in finding out what the components of the church renovation will be in order to bid on them, then I would like to know this. On the table in the church entry there are forms that can be filled out in order to communicate this to me. Please fill out a form and place it in the box provided. I will pass on the information to Jim Mainelli who is the general manager for the renovation so that he can contact and discuss this with those interested.

Further, in regards to the renovation, the feedback that I did receive in relation to the new pews centered mostly around the desire that the pews include cushions. The donation that the parish has received for the new pews is sufficient to install the all-hardwood pews, which will have the advantage of our having pews that can much more easily be refinished in the future whenever such would be necessary after many years of use and also provides the ability to replace easily the pew cushion on this type of pew.

Finally, the parish also has received an anonymous donation to do some work on the outside of the rectory and church. The shingles on the roof of the rectory have never been replaced and have some slight hail damage, so this donor would like to replace the shingles and also has included in the donation the provision for new shingles on the church and for the repainting of all trim work. I found out from Jim Mainelli this last week that there is currently the offer from one of the major shingle producers to provide a lifetime guarantee on their best shingles, so we will be looking into whether this donation would make it possible for the parish to take advantage of this opportunity.

Have a blessed and enjoyable week.
Father Gutowski
