From The Pastor's Desk - January 30, 2011

Dear Parishioners,

Thank you to those who have returned the survey concerning the renovation of the church and the classroom addition. Thus far, 51 surveys have been received back. I and the parish council will look at the feedback given and let you know how we will proceed once all of us have been able to consider the input we have received.

As I already had previously mentioned, I went to Washington D.C. for the March for Life that took place this last Monday. As one of the sponsoring organizations for taking an adult group from the Archdiocese of Omaha on a pilgrimage, the Catholic Faith Formation Office encourages adults to participate in this. As director of the Office I help to lead it and guide the adults on it around Washington, D.C. Two of our St. Joseph Knights of Columbus members, Larry Vacek and Ron Cacka were able to be a part of it to experience firsthand the March. Next year our Knights desire to send some of our youth to the March as well, as the Archdiocese provides a youth pilgrimage, so I hope that our high school age youth will consider this for next year. As one of the features of the pilgrimage, we were able to meet with our three Nebraska House Representatives and Senator Nelson. Our House Representatives stressed that the March for Life is very important in keeping the issue of pro-life before the nation and our government officials in Washington, D.C. and to remind all that abortion is something that the majority of Americans do not support. A police officer along the route of the March estimated that 500,000 persons participated in the March this year. It is indeed an inspiring event and worth the sacrifice of making the trip knowing that doing so is making a difference in defending the lives of the unborn. Let us continue to pray for an end to abortion and to continue in all the ways we are able to give witness to the sanctity of human life from the moment of conception to natural death.

God bless and have a wonderful week,

Fr. Gutowski
